Board Statement Regarding Wentworth Falls Bowling Club
REGARDING
WENTWORTH FALLS BOWLING CLUB
The Board of Directors of Katoomba RSL All Services Club has resolved to part with Wentworth Falls Bowling Club located at 2/6 Falls Road, Wentworth Falls.
The decision to part with this asset is based on commercial considerations supported by professional advice, together with the impact of Covid-19 and regard to the future operations of Katoomba RSL All Services Club.
This action has been considered very carefully by the Board and follows a lengthy and comprehensive process. The focus of this process was an attempt to retain a bowling club facility for the local community.
The process adopted a 3-phase approach:
Phase 1.
Approaching directly, selected registered clubs with a view to seeking an Expression of Interest in amalgamation with Wentworth Falls Bowling Club
Phase 2.
A broadcast notice to every registered club in New South Wales through Clubs New South Wales Network seeking an Expression of Interest in amalgamation with Wentworth Falls Bowling Club.
Considerable and active interest was shown by many clubs across the NSW club network; however, this did not result in any registered club in NSW putting forward a formal offer to amalgamate.
Throughout Phase 1 and 2, Members of Wentworth Falls Men’s Bowling Club attended special Board Meetings to discuss progress and also received regular updates from Club Management directly to the Secretary of Wentworth Falls Men’s Bowling Club.
Phase 3.
Relinquish ownership of Wentworth Falls Bowling Club by way of public sale.
The process now moves to the final phase.
I can report that with the exception of the contracted green keeper, there have been no staff job losses as a result of the closure of Wentworth Falls Bowling Club with all staff being absorbed into the staffing of Katoomba RSL All Services Club
Members of Wentworth Falls Men’s Bowling Club are relocating to other bowling clubs in the area and Katoomba RSL All Services Club will support this transition.
